Your foot can change size over time, so there is a need to confirm your shoe size every once in a while. Bootsolution knows a properly fitting boot or shoe is a basic requirement for foot comfort. The following suggestions will help you confirm your proper shoe sizing for a comfortable fit.

Tips for Perfect Foot Measurement and Boot Fit

  • Your feet are larger at the end of the day. You should measure your feet after standing or working for long periods.
  • Measure both of your feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boots. Wear these socks when you measure your foot.

Get an Accurate Foot Measurement

  • Wear the same socks that you'll wear with your new boots when you measure.
  • If you are doing the measurement by yourself, you will get more accurate results if you sit in a chair when measuring.
  • Tape a piece of paper to the floor and while seated, place your foot onto the paper. With a pencil, trace around your foot. Hold the pencil as straight up-and-down as possible while measuring and be sure that your pencil remains in constant contact with your foot during this process.
  • If you have someone to help you take your measurement, the most accurate method is for your partner to trace your foot while you stand.

To Determine Proper Foot Width and Length

FOOT LENGTH

To find your foot length, measure the distance between the two longest points on your tracing. Reduce this number by 5 mm, or 1/5-inch (the 1/5 is simply the width of the pencil). The result is your foot length and the number you will use to determine your shoe size.

FOOT WIDTH

To find your foot width, measure the distance between the two widest points on your tracing. Reduce this number by 5 mm, or 1/5-inch. The result is the number you will use to determine your foot width. Use the chart below to determine your foot width.
